Fundraise to Support Our Athletes!

Thanks to the Bum Biters Ski Club Vancouver for donating a cheque of $4800 to SOBC Vancouver. We are grateful to the Vancouver Open Water Swim Association (VOWSA) for making us a beneficiary of their fundraising efforts. Proceeds from their annual Open Water Swim Series go towards Special Olympics BC Vancouver. The Series consists of the Canada Day Challenge at Sasamat Lake in Belcarra, the Bay Challenge which is a 9 km swim from Sandy’s Cove in West Vancouver to Kitsilano Beach, and the Kitsilano Beach Challenge. Several of our athletes and coaches have volunteered at these events as well at the weekly VOWSA swim practices at Kits Beach in the summer. In addition, several hardcore athletes have taken the plunge and participated in VOWSA practices and competitions. For more information on VOWSA and its activities, check out http://vowsa.bc.ca.

On June 18, 19, and 20, 2010, the Staples Business Depot on Grandview Hwy held a fundraiser event including a BBQ at their store for SOBC Vancouver. Many of our athletes were involved in selling BBQ tickets and bagging purchases for customers. In addition, many parents and coaches were also in attendance at the event. We would like to thank store manager Matt Hoegg and his staff for all their help with putting on such a successful event which the athletes enjoyed immensely. Attend the SOBC-Vancouver 5k Fundraiser on August 2nd, 2014
