Special Olympics Vancouver’s 2011 Christmas Gala was held on November 25 at the dazzling Jewel Ballroom in South Granville complete with festive music and spectacular views of the downtown skyline.
Athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers, supporters, and sponsors came out and enjoyed a wonderful evening of good food, dancing, laughter, and mingling with each other. As always, Santa did not disappoint and dropped off a sleigh load of presents for the athletes.
A special thank-you goes to all those who helped to make the event such a success. There were many volunteers and athletes who helped with setup, cleanup, and running the event. The athletes who gave speeches all did a fabulous job with cheering applauses from the crowd. Our friends at Murrick Insurance were back again this year and helped with serving the delicious buffet dinner. As always, the Retroactive Band kept us entertained with their wonderful music while creating a festive dancing atmosphere. We must also thank the staff at Jewel Ballroom for all the great food, for putting on such a great event, and for their support of our organization.
