In support of our athletes, SOBC Vancouver will be hosting a walkathon on Sunday April 18th in which everyone is invited to participate. This will be the first of what we hope to be many annual walkathons.
Registration will start at 9:00am, and following a short warm-up, the walk will start at 10:30am. It is a five-kilometre walk beginning at Jericho Beach at the foot of Trimble Street where it leads into NW Marine. The route will proceed to the anchor (which will be easy to find), and back again to the registration tent. There is a small parking lot near the tent, but there are many other parking lots to the west of our starting location. It should be recommended for athletes to bring their own water bottles.
Registration is FREE with a minimum $20 in pledges. Drop-in walkers are welcome to participate with a $10 registration fee. Athletes who participate will be entered in the grand prize draw. For every $20 in pledges collected, they get one ballot in the draw. ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT SPECIAL OLYMPICS BC VANCOUVER. We will be collecting pledge forms and money as soon as the registration begins, and when the walk is done we will do the grand prize draw. Download pledge sheet (PDF).
To get the word out in your community, you can download our walkathon flyer to print and distribute. Come rain or come shine, we will see you at the walkathon!
